Nine Decades Of Service
Central Radio Company, Inc. (CRCI) has been rooted in the historic shipbuilding hub of Norfolk, Virginia, since 1934. Throughout our history, we have provided radio installations, repairs, sales, and electrical and electronic services to shipyards around the world.

Standing Up for What’s Right
Our commitment to doing what’s right extends beyond the work we perform.
When Central Radio’s longtime Norfolk property was threatened by eminent domain, we chose to fight for the business, employees, and legacy generations had worked to build.
When the City of Norfolk then attempted to restrict a protest banner displayed on our own building, we stood our ground again—this time defending our right to speak.
The battles ultimately reached the Supreme Court of Virginia and the United States Supreme Court, resulting in victories for Central Radio’s property and First Amendment rights.
It became a defining chapter in our history and a powerful reflection of a value that has guided Central Radio for generations:

We were among the first to develop and deliver a top-tier temporary wireless announcing system, wireless casualty reporting, and wireless smoke/heat and flood detection systems. Our systems are continuously updated to meet new government requirements, including NAVSEA Standard Items, which helps ensure maximum reliability in our safety and fire prevention systems.
As an authorized Kenwood and Federal Motorola dealer, we provide premium two-way radio solutions to both government and private-sector clients. We also continue to be a leader in comprehensive onboard electrical and electronic repair services for naval vessels.
